Dermal fillers - how do they work?
Dermal Fillers are comprised of the natural substances in the human body such as hyaluronic acid which becomes depleted as we age. Our natural collagen and elastin levels in the skin lessens, as cells lose their ability to produce more of this.
When we are young we have a natural abundance of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and collagen in our body, this helps the skin remain supported, keeping lines and wrinkles from developing.

What side effects may I expect following treatment?
Immediately after treatment there is often swelling, redness, some tenderness, and itching at the site of the treated areas. This is completely normal, it is only temporary and as a rule will disappear in 1 or 2 days.
The Lip filler treatment post injection swelling may last longer than other areas of the face. Some patients can experience swelling for up to 2 weeks. It is not uncommon for the lips to look uneven during this time frame, they may also be bruised. The immediate look of the lips after treatment is not the final result this will take a minimum of 2 weeks to be seen.
Who should avoid this treatment?
There is no known risk to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, but we would advise against having treatment under these conditions.
